Hi,
We don't have scrolling text object as a seperate option.
Alternatively, on the dashboard, you could create Sticky notes and Image objects. http://www.infocaptor.com/dashboard/sticky-notes-data-entry-fields-and-logos-or-images-on-dashboard

So in order to create a scrolling text, one alternative would be to create a GIF image with the scroll effect and then use this image as the source to create the image object on the dashboard.

We will consider adding scrolling text as a separate option.

Thank you for your suggestion
Harish

For the refresh piece, can you verify the following properties for both the objects
Edit the chart and look for property 'Include in Autrefresh', it should set to 'Y'

similarly check the Qlet property.

During autorefresh all the portlets that have 'Include in Autorefresh' as 'Y' will be refreshed except the ones that are meant for drill purpose.
For e.g if you defined a Qlet which has param< , > filter in the where clause will not be refreshed for the obvious reason that it will hinder the autorefresh process by prompting for parameters everytime.

The Parent Qlet will be refreshed but not the child qlet.

During autorefresh, the parameters are never refreshed unless you manually refresh them.

I hope this explains, if not please feel free with any questions.

What I observed when I enabled the Auto-refresh feature is that all QLETs and GLETS appear to be updated (re-painted). The information in Process Status and Process Status Chart are updated. However, the data in Task Status and Task Status Chart don't seem to be updated. I should point out that Task Status relies on Process to pass to it the process_id, start_time and end_time to get the correct info from the database. During auto-refresh, the Parameter control are not being changed, that means if the Process (Parameter) SQL is not re-run, the start_time and end_time will not be updated and the Task Status will not get the correct info using start_time and end_time from previous setting. My question is: During Auto-refresh, will all the SQL associated with the Parameter controls be executed? Does the cascading od events (Team to Process) cause any problem?

BTW, I created another Dashboad with similar constructs but use drill-down from the Process Status to the Task Status and it works OK. This indicates that I the SQL is OK. Just that I may be misunderstanding the auto-refresh facility. Could you explain to me what goes on during auto-refresh?

One question, are you using MySQL as the database? If yes then the problem is related to it.

For e.g When we used MySQL to put a link column for http://www.yahoo.com then the database wraps the url within a single quote 'http://www.yahoo.com' and this is why the launch url is not activated. If this is the case we will create a workaround and send you a solution

I am still having problem getting the URL to work. Do you have any advice for me? It has to be something I've done. I desparately need to invoke external URL since InfoCaptor is a passive tool and I need to carry out some action. The only way is to invoke an existing web-application with the required parameters byinvoking a URL.

The SQL copied for the edit window that corresponds to the captured screen is:
select t.display_name as task_name, t.id as task_id,
IF(t.user_defined_flag = 0, 'false', 'true') as user_defined,
IF(t.optional_flag = 0, 'false', 'true') as optional,
CONCAT('http://', t.system_query) as Link
from task t, process p, process_task a
where a.process_id = p.id
and p.id = param<Process Id, 0>
and a.task_id = t.id;

One of the requirements for the dashboard I am building is that I am given a fixed set of SQL statements/stored procedures, in addition to other stuff that I put in the dashboard, that have to be executed and their result displayed. Obviously, one can create a QLET for each of them. But this means that there are many QLETs. Is it possible to have 1 QLET that displays different number of colums depending on what the SQL/stroed procedure returns?

You can do this by just using two Qlets.

Create one parent qlet, with unions
if using Oracle database then
select 'Table1' from dual
union
select 'Table2' from dual
union
select 'Table3' from dual

I think in MySQL you can just say
select 'Table1
union
select 'Table2'
union
select 'Table3'

Now this is done in the first Qlet (parent)

Next create a child Qlet with following query
select * from param<Table Name,x>

For the child Qlet, Set the 'Run on start' property to 'No'

Once the parent and child Qlet are done, create a drill from the parent to child. Check the attached pdf tutorial

How to use Java script to invoke any external Windows program using Parameter? I imagine it will be similar to invoking the browser.

Yes, use the same syntax and call the appropriate program file

Is is possible to call a stored procedure? How does it determine the number of columns returned?

This is not available for the Qlet. But we will provide a mechanism where you just enter the stored procedure and then internally it will get the SQL dynamically and execute the SQL

Is it possible to change the column description in the QLET? For example, if I specify DATE_FORMAT(start, "%M %e, %Y %T") in the select statement, the description displayed is "DATE_FORMAT(start, "%M %e, %Y %T")' and it does not look that good.

You can change the column name, right click on any column, Click on the Column Settings Tab, Enter the column name in the 'Display Column name' property

I was thinking that bring up a browser makes the dashboard look non-integrated. Is it possible to display the html page on the html control within the dashboard? If this is not possible, is it possible to disply a button instead of the URL to invoke the html page?

Which html page are you refering to? Are you referring to the Export to HTML option?

I am currently evaluating infocaptor. I've created a dashboard for my application. I have a number of questions:
1) using Qlets, is it possible to make each row to be displayed in a different color based on the value of a particular column eg, a column of type ENUM?

Yes, here is an example http://www.infocaptor.com/user_help/exception_stop_light.htm?MenuState=HE3xVRUERFB
